"There are less expensive pulse oximeters out there but NONE are as accurate as the Nonin brand, period. I use the Nonin Pulse Oximeters in my medical practice exclusively and wouldn't even think of using another brand." Dr. Brent Blue
Read about the Accuracy of Nonin Pulse Oximeters vs SPO brand.
Nonin’s many years of experience in pulse oximetry innovation have led to the development of the world’s smallest self-contained digital fingertip pulse oximeter — the Nonin 9500 Onyx. Incorporating the electronics and sensor into one unit — the Nonin 9500 Onyx provides a cost effective solution for spot-checks and short-term monitoring.
Earning the trust of clinicians worldwide, the Nonin 9500 Onyx finger pulse oximeter has provided unparalleled reliability and superior performance through its daily use — anywhere, anytime.
Proven Accuracy & Durability
Nonin’s unique “Pulse Quality Indicator” provides a quick and accurate assessment of pulse quality. This minimizes training needs and allows the health care professional to quickly determine if any interaction is required — such as repositioning the device. The Onyx is ergonomically optimized and meets testing needs ranging from adults to pediatric with finger thicknesses between 0.3 and 1.0 inches (8 mm to 26 mm).
Standard Accessories:
- 9500 Pulse Oximeter
- Lanyard cord-black, with lock
- Two AAA Alkaline Batteries
- Instruction and Service Manual
Dr. Blue says: "The 9500 is the smallest and easiest unit to use for spot monitoring of oxygen levels. It is fully automatic, user-friendly, and extremely accurate. The unit is powered by two ordinary AAA alkaline batteries and has a great instant-on feature: insert your finger and it turns on automatically...remove your finger and it turns itself off.
The principal shortcoming of the Onyx (compared to Nonin's higher-priced models) is that it cannot use a remote sensor, making continuous monitoring difficult. Also, it has no provision for memory, or for interfacing with a printer or PC. (If you need those features, consider the 2500 PalmSAT.) But most home users don't need those features, and you can't beat the price, so it's no surprise that the Onyx is by far our best-selling pulse oximeter."
